Income Tax Time

Income Tax Time

There has not been a successful attack on American soil since they took down the twin towers of the World Trade Center on 9/11. Those who hate us have tried, but a major part of our success thus far is our scientifically complex, highly trained and skilled ability to detect and to respond appropriately, including with force as need be, light force or overwhelming force, both overseas and right here on our own ground.

Sadly, Americans have died because we’ve been at war with them ever since in Afghanistan, on Times Square, up the highway, and wherever. It's expensive, but we have not been failing.

Sunday mornings at church we pray for those in the armed forces and others who are in harm’s way for the wellbeing of We The People. Having been there in wartime, I take that prayer seriously to heart. A family at church last Sunday brought a friend, a young Marine in splendid uniform, I hope folks welcomed him. Another, a dear friend about whom I feel spiritually very protective, is away and also especially in my prayer. The income taxes that I pay every year help pay for what these young people do. Your  income taxes pay the congressman, but my income taxes help keep America and Americans safe at home and abroad. I’m getting more than my money’s worth, and would gladly pay more if need be.

Yesterday I was holding up in prayer the little boy held hostage in Alabama, and his mama. The newspaper headline this morning reads, “Boy safe, hostage-taker dead.” The FBI with their skills and highly scientific abilities played the key role in that. My income taxes help pay for the FBI and all they do. They are an answer to prayer.

It was worth every penny of income taxes I paid last year and will pay this year, just to read this morning’s headline.
