daze
Doctor's appointment for Linda early afternoon, then home for dinner of eggplant parmesan. Starting with a package from TAFB commissary and we're adding ground lamb and more eggplant, slices of baked eggplant. Maybe a glass of red wine along with, eh? There's an open bottle of pinot noir, if it's gone stale I'll just add ice.
Getting the gnawing hunger for oysters on the half-shell, maybe from Captain's Table or Gene's Oyster Bar. Maybe Friday, our day committed to us and Kristen visiting Malinda at Pruitt after school, then we someTimes go somewhere for late dinner or early supper.
So what else is new? My shoes and socks. A few months back I upped my shoe size from 12 to 13 and ordered thick socks to go along with: causing foot discomfort, so I upped my shoe size again to 14 and ordered thin socks. Black shoes and black socks to test the change; if it works, as it seems so far, I'll order gray shoes and thin white or gray socks, for variety. The CHF, first diagnosed in October 2010, isn't out of control, I guess, but increasingly difficult to keep down the edema in toes, feet, ankles, legs; and when the feet are way too large for the shoes, I reckon new shoes is what to do. I always wore only leather shoes, but growing into extreme old age excuses my shift to cloth shoes. IDK, maybe they're canvas. They close with those sticky straps, velcro - - I'm many long years beyond wearing shoes with shoestrings to tie.
Velcro isn't even a word.
Linda did her turn on the new under-desk elliptical. This is day either two or three with it. It's electric and I don't see how the aitch it accomplishes any exercise function, but it's what the doctor recommended, so we're in. Maybe it's better than sitting at my desk all day, and Linda sitting in her recliner chair. It's a blue chair that I bought my mother for her 98th birthday years ago - - it's controlled by a TV-type remote, and Mama never figured out how to use it. The company named the color "admiral blue," which is as close as I've ever gotten to flag rank.
Wednesday: a lovely day outside. The HVAC technician came yesterday, did the routine maintenance, and put our dehumidifier back in commission, increasing comfort here in 7H.
Task this afternoon: finish prepping the Handout for Sunday's final session on Mark and his gospel. After that I think they want me to offer one session on Secret Mark (look it up, I'm not explaining it here); and, as Advent begins, one session on Matthew and his gospel because we read Matthew throughout Year A, which begins Sunday, 30 November 2025.
Anyway, happy daze.
