Monday after Sunday
5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7 And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. (Genesis 6:5f, KJV)
Russian drones being shot down over Poland, a "sabotage" explosion to destroy a Polish rail line used to transport supplies to Ukraine. Putin bound to nothing but his own will for former Soviet territories, and testing NATO resolve. It's like fires or heavy rains that weaken underlying land in California, bringing on landslides. The northern hemisphere is sliding again into major war, and a war with Russia and the US as enemies touching each other's territory will quickly become total, with no holds barred, including nuclear, a planet's own inhabitants bringing on its next major extinction event.
What a load of myopic idiots.
So, Ecclesiastes chapter 3 again, enjoy life in the moment, because it's all you're going to get, and less than you assumed.
Matthew 20:24: Pray that it may not happen in winter.

No major thinker by any stretch, I am a minor thinker for and unto myself, and my slide into nonagenarianism has bought or brought me zilch to "do" and moved me off onto a side track where my train waits with nothing in a day but Time to watch, including seeing events on what our Eucharistic Prayer C calls "this fragile Earth, our island home." It's an apt phrase, way more than poetic, entirely lost on us.
At the moment, Earth may be Creation's only "manned" and "intelligent" planet, and nobody knows where, when, or whether there'll be another such divine experiment with self-aware creatures. There may have been, and we are for the moment, and there may or may not be again. Time or Eternity will tell and only the Creator will know.
Knowing, from having made a vocation of contemplating it, I realize what we were: ignorant, frightened and in awe, with no answers but, based on what we saw, (again) myopic and geocentric as Creation revolved around us, what we doctrinized to believe as what is true for us - - all settled in concrete and held dear
even as we rapidly expand our knowledge of Creation, obsoleting knowledge and truth generation by generation, in our generation faster than ever, but clinging-to, and thinking Pilate's question doesn't apply to us because we've settled it: "What is Truth?"
Opening premise: Your God is too small.

More and more as life goes on, I see my theology in the images above, and in all that lies beyond them.
Schleiermacher: there is implanted in each of us a sense of the infinite. Shema, Yisrael, Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai echad, Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One. We believe in One God, the Father, the Almighty, Creator of all that is, seen and unseen. Baruch ata, Adonai Eloheinu, Melek ha-olam, shehecheyanu ... , Blessed art thou, Lord our God, King of the universe, who gives us life, and sustains us, and has brought us to this Time.
