and the evening comes
These are end of Thursday pictures from 7H porch this evening as the sun finished up and sank off beyond and behind the high-rise buildings on Thomas Drive to the west of us.
Others are to the south and looking east. The clouds were - - "spectacular" is too common a word. "Heavenly" is right, but still doesn't say it. The Bay is flat and taking reflections.
Several of them I posted to Facebook to share with FB friends. Here's one looking out toward the Pass, which from 7H is the other side of Courtney Point jutting out.
Living here is an ever changing scene.
I got started on it this evening because of the heavy, dark storm cloud that was framing the magnificent beauty beneath it. Often over the years, the scenery here on St Andrews Bay is so startling that I imagine my father must have seen it just like this in his growing up years here in St Andrews, and I wish he could see what I'm looking at right now.
This evening might be a Time like that.
It all brings to mind a favorite from our Book of Common Prayer,
O Lord, support us all the day long, until the shadows lengthen, and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then in thy mercy grant us a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at the last.
So, amen to that, eh?
