It is well,

It is well

Weather this morning 69° 63% delightfully cool on 7H porch, fair and 0% precip. As to Hurricane Irma, shame, shame, shame for my enormous relief,

but as of this moment South Florida (we have Florida and South Florida here, it was and is the cultural, social, political distinction between Southerners and Yankees) is still in for it with Irma, and then the Carolinas, home of many loved ones who rushed here to the ancestral city for the family crisis.

The doctor came in yesterday afternoon to say CABG surgery is not the best option for Gina. Basically, she will be kept in BayMed CVICU until off the dopamine for BP control, then taken to a regular room until she is back on her feet, up and mobile. With the permission of the medical staff, we celebrated Holy Eucharist with a large and obediently quiet family crowd circling her bed in CVICU room 13, and then silently faded to disperse back into our own lives.

The past week has been one of those occasional family gatherings of love and intense anxiety, even fear. And then our opening hymn at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church last evening to resume our Wednesday Night services,

“When peace, like a river,
     attendeth my way …
It is well with my soul,
it is well, it is well with my soul.”
