what is man ...

Several, I've started several +Time blogposts this week then tired of their subject and left them sitting without further work.

Earlier in the week - - the days slip by, I have no idea which - - we went to Walmart so Linda could get something from the pharmacy area, and I wandered around in the food section. The first thing I picked up was two of their pints of west coast oysters. When doing that, it's appropriate to check the sell-by dates, because likely there're at least two expiry dates in the bin, and you want to get the freshest one.

The oysters are lousy, but they're oysters, nomesane?, they are swelled up summer fat and disgusting, but they are oysters. I pour the whole pint into a sauce pan, oysters and liquid, and turn the heat on low. They simmer, and I let them cook in the liquid, then put them in the toaster oven to roast on high heat for a bit, while I sip the liquid. Delicious unless I put too much lemon pepper in it, it's not enough liquid for me to be concerned about the salt in it. The enormous oysters cook on 400°F for twelve minutes, then I take them out of the oven and eat them. If a person's got to have oysters, they're oysters, see what I mean? Saturday, loved ones are coming over from Tallahassee and we're thinking to take them to Hunt's, and maybe I'll have oysters. I'll try to be mindful of my objective, to avoid returning to hospital because of too much salt and too much liquid.

The other food Item I spied at Walmart was in the meat section, lamb steaks. I bought two packages, and we ate one yesterday. Two steaks in a package, one small and tough and I obviously let it over cook, so it was quite chewy. I served that one to myself. The other steak was  larger, tender, and excellent. It was medium, pink, because Linda does not like red lamb, and it turned out really superb.

On the home front. Several days, the crew from Security Vision worked in here converting our system from coaxial cable tv and internet to fibre optics. Today, late this afternoon, they finished. Television service seems good, although there's an awful lot to learn about these television sets. I hope the internet service is good, it has been really great for us most of the past dozen years that we've been living here in 7H, and changing from WOW! to another provider makes me a little uneasy. But okay so far.

Tomorrow Friday comes round again, our POD includes the drive out Jenks Avenue to Pruitt Health to visit Malinda, then back here for dinner of a butter chicken that Linda bought at, we think it was Aldi's. The box says it serves four, so should be okay for the three of us. When we eat at Holi Indian Grill on 23rd Street, someone always orders the butter chicken, so should be satisfactory to our tastes, eh?

We love Indian food. 2026 - 1990 = 36 years ago I think it was, we spent a week or ten days in London, and our hotel was walking distance from several Indian restaurants, so we feasted every evening. We like the new Holi place except that I disappreciate the tables that are jammed along both walls in the main dining room, so we don't go as often as we otherwise might.

What else? Mister B is a happy person, happy with life, happy with loved ones, happy living here in 7H these dozen years, as it'll be in December. Happy with the relaxed way of life that being ninety-one years of age is turning out to be. Happy with my sole intellectual pursuit, which is Seeking the Truth, contemplating the Universe and our place in it, humans who've popped up on an insignificant little planet on the fringes of an average galaxy among trillions of other galaxies, fashioning deities in our image, after our human likeness; and imagining ourselves very important in the scheme of things.

Ants fighting against ants in neighboring anthills, we are terrible, terrible stewards of the dominion given to us. Fortunately for Time and Eternity, it's but a microscopically tiny piece of Creation.

mox nix, eh, this too shall pass.

With Job in mind, Mark Twain has a paragraph early in his bible when God is telling the heavenly beings that he has created man. Satan asks, "Excellency, why?" and as God fumbles to answer, Satan advises, "It it was me, I'd drown the lot of 'em."

What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet
