Blue

Blue has long been traditionally the color for the Blessed Virgin Mary. She wears blue. A blue robe. A blue shawl. Or a blue sash. It isn’t a rule, just a custom. But makes it seemly for church and clergy to vest in blue for Advent. And blue candles in the Advent wreath.
Based on the first chapters of Matthew and Luke, the doctrine of the virgin birth has been a tenet of Christian belief almost from the beginning. Later enshrined in the Creeds, it’s a vital part of the faith for many. How and why it came to be and what it may mean to us makes for interesting discussion. Which we shall tackle in our final Bible study session this morning, and again in adult Sunday school on Advent 4, which is -- Mary Sunday.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women. And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Come and see.
