Tks, Norm

From warplane art of WW2, nearly all of it socially unacceptable/politically incorrect in the 21st century, though not the Curtis P40s of the Flying Tigers, American fighter pilots who flew for the Chinese Air Force just before Pearl Harbor

it was fun looking back at art

that decorated automobile radiator caps

beginning when car radiators

were exposed

and water needed checking

and topping off frequently,

before radiators were hidden,

covered, by the car hood (English, bonnet).

At which Time the art continued basically

until the hood itself disappeared sloping away

so quickly that the driver could no longer see it.

In my Time, we used the hood ornament (no longer radiator ornament) to tell how long the car was out front, for parking.

Ford used a greyhound,

Plymouth

used a stylized Mayflower

that was unmistakable.

There were flying ladies

Time for the Monday walk.
