perfection
Perfection is in the eye and heart of the beholder, eh?, a 17 year old boy looking at a 16 year old girl. A martini - - a perfect martini is a classic description of ingredients, but it's still in the eye of the beholder, and does not suit my notion of perfection, which begins with a shaker of ice, a tiny nip of vermouth poured over the ice and the two of them left alone and given their privacy to get together for a minute or so, ounce and a half of gin, ounce or ounce and a half of vodka (which softens the gin's juniper), three anchovy stuffed olives, and far less than a teaspoon but a few drops of the liquid from the olive jar. Shake vigorously, shake shake shake. Vodka all tastes the same to me so far, but the martini's perfection may vary with the brand of gin: I've not gotten up the courage to try the BX own brand of gin, but maybe.
Then the perfect pizza, thin crispy crust of almost any brand or flavor preferably bogo, with a full can of anchovies laid carefully across the half I'm going to eat. Dollop of mayonnaise and a butter knife for smearing a tiny taste of mayo on each bite. Enzo's on Beck Avenue in St Andrews surpasses the ultimate, but we're talking about pizza bought at grocery store and baked at home. Use pizza cutter to slice so each piece is long with its own anchovy. Serves one.
Final and ultimate perfection, the Bill Lloyd Building of Cove School HNES with new windows.
Again and always, I like to point out that the old original 1937 building is easily told from the WW2 1940s addition by two features, the bump in the roofline, and that classrooms in the original north part have five windows, while the classrooms in the 1940s addition have six windows and a cloakroom window.
The building is coming out of H.Michael looking better than ever inside and out. Judy Hughes is on top of it to get it finished in time for the 2019-2020 school year to open in August. A lot lot lot of finishing yet to be done, but who's to say otherwise.
Tuesday: ear appointments and checking on P the Cat while K's out of town. Thursday, TJCC to England. Saturday, Joe and one of his motorcycles on their way north to Pennsylvania, where basically Joe grew up from high school on, Michigan to see Nicholas and lovely scenery. Traveling mercies, Lord.
