the Blesseds

Sunday, All Saints, tradition is to read The Beatitudes from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. I guess the idea is to list attributes of a saint so you can see if you find yourself (scroll down). If you do see yourself, or someone you know or have known, great! But if you do not, hang in there, because no list is complete, and faith is that God who loves you just as you are, the way you are, has you on his list anyway and already.

What? Up early although 33 minutes later than my regular Sunday morning target when it's my day in the pulpit. Tasty breakfast of Tassy's Chili with two fried eggs on top, and a slice of wonderful ripe avocado. Last sip of my hot & black, handful of heart pills, swallow of ice water, and if I hurry I may be able to grab a quick nap before shave and shower. Or at least a lie down, eh?

Hope to see you at Church, happy Sunday, and blessings.

Matthew (5:1-12)

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and after he sat down, his disciples came to him. Then he began to speak, and taught them, saying:

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

"Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.

"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

"Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

"Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil

against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."
