too early

Early, up too early, way too early, well before three o'clock.

What to blog about in an overwhelming world. Anything light seems lame, inane, oblivious, obscene, irrelevant to the lives of Neighbors and disrespectful of their condition. Terrified, hopeless people in Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, Israel, Yemen ... . Ordinary people just want to live our lives peacefully, not driven by the hatreds of self-certain religious and political fanatics. Communities wiped out, innumerable homeless and helpless and 100+ dead from Hurricane Helene. And just the start of things to come in the changing climate of hurricanes. This is not different, it's a New Normal developing as Earth warms.

Does it seem like that sometimes?

Or is it all our own doing? Or the start of the next Age of Nature?

Be honest, not sanctimonious.

What about prayer? Does prayer press God to get moving and save things? We are in an incomprehensible Universe, is our God big enough to fit universal reality?

Coffee hot & black and a PBJ foldover on very thin white bread. Generally, I don't eat white bread, but a PBJ is supposed to taste a certain way and don't mess with it. Stirred together grape jelly and peanut butter smeared on one half of one slice of white bread. It will take you home, country roads.

Kris Kristofferson, "loving her was easier," "for the good times," ... listened for a while last evening. Who did I miss? Olivia Newton-John, ...

Can we just let it go for chrissakes and not wax sappy about God needing a singer in Heaven?

+++++++

What does happen, though? My favorite: at the end of "The Silver Chair," old King Caspian dying, washed in the river of life, and rising as the boy we knew all those Narnian years ago v. What do I believe and expect?

What do YOU believe and expect? God is in control? Who or What is God? If you are my age, Kris Kristofferson's age, questions occur that are different to the usual passing assumptions in the Christian world.

Is God Whoever or Whatever I want God to be and so therefore define God to be? Or is God Other, Whoever or Whatever God says God is? "Tell them I AM sent you."

A book, somewhere around here I have a book from seminary days, says that God's only characteristic is Grace, which is unconditional love. Is that the God you believe in, or is your God more to your liking, likeness and image, blessing your likes, loves and certainties and hating what/who you hate? Because it's a question, see. Is God Father, Son & Holy Spirit, or is God incomprehensibly other, above and beyond all we can imagine? Or is God?

Me, I'm not sophisticated, I'm just not into dogma, doctrine and creeds that define God; and substantially different to what, who, and how others define God. Who's got a handle on these hurricanes, and on us people, and especially on these religious and political wing nuts among us?

Monday, it's Monday morning, the last day of my birthday month. If you came here for assurance, you're not getting assurance, you're getting questions. What's for lunch?
