Friends

While taking a rest before Beverly's funeral this morning, instead of falling asleep my mind went to a couple of articles I've read recently about friends and the importance of social connections and friendships to our lives, our mental, physical, emotional wellbeing. A loner at heart and basically, I've thought of myself as not having or needing friends, but a haphazard inventory of my life's years told differently.

Relaxing and half asleep, I tried to categorize them instead of just working through a list of some sort. Categorize, over my lifetime.

Clergy friends, church friends. In all this I'm thinking of friends, not all my associates, colleagues, acquaintances, nice folks. Chuck Floyd. Mike Dickey. James Lawrence. Ray Wishart,

Friends in business. maybe Aurelio Azpiazu.

Navy friends. Ray Barnes. Don Senese. John Shaughnessy. Lou Costa. Norm Hensley.

Schooldays friends. Parker Reynolds. Philip Johnson. Robert Padgett. Georgia Ann Cruce.
