How was your day?

Your day to me, my day to you, a day makes little difference except to those who live it or who suffer with loved ones who live it. Just so our day, days, Monday was one. Not bad, not a bad day at all, but long, busy and long; in 24 hour clock terms, 0300 to 1900, long for people in mid-eighties. But the exercise was good, Monday I walked over three miles, better than average; living sans garage means that we have nearly a mile round trip walk every time we go to the car and back, which continues healthful, and one becomes accustomed to these ongoing mandates of the hurricane.

Never would I have chosen such a storm, but as foreseen by the early 850Strong optimists, this side of HMichael many things are better than ever. True, homes are still in ruins, and businesses/places of employment destroyed all over Bay County, folks living in RVs. The trees will not be back in my lifetime, but what we see is that the oaks are strong, determined, and making it; pine forests are gone, and the sprinkling of tall pines that survived are dying. At least from central Bay County north and east, nearly every tall pine that wasn't broken and snapped off has lost its needles and is dead or dying and in due course will have to be cut down as a hazard.

The storm report that came to us is that across Harbour Village here in StAndrews, we had sustained hurricane winds of 160 mph and gusts over 200 mph, from the west side and eye-wall, coming from the north. We are incredibly fortunate with the competence of management and contractors. And, back to the point, they are making everything better than ever, better than new. Both here and at the school.

Except for the top pic showing pine trees that aren't going to make it, today's pictures, taken at sunset at Breakfast Point, aren't relevant to this morning's blogpost. But it's my blog and I liked them.

Up early to take Kristen's car, white 2013 Volvo XC60 with almost 85,000 miles, back to the shop for more work. A good driving car, worth taking care of. If a car is not properly serviced and maintained, oil changed and worn parts replaced as needed, it will go off unsafe and undependable, fail when least expected, and results can be catastrophic.

And to all a good morning.
