Milwaukee bishop calls for ‘righteous anger’ after another shooting of a Black man by police

One may wonder (I do) what might constitute "righteous anger" in today's America gone bizarre internally and rogue among the nations. Fires and rage, public property (city firetrucks) set ablaze while we watch on film. In a regional capital a fawning Gauleiter attempts to carry out the will of Dear Leader but is bucked by a local school board who are upheld by a court. Meanwhile, unmasked, Shame regroups to continue.

Righteous anger is the explosive release of pent up resentment in the storming, raging fury of crowds wreaking destruction as they protest evil and its symbols.

In the end the crowd either tires and goes home or is put down, evil is restored, and the crowd resumes its seething until next time.

When a human being is repeatedly shot in the back in front of his children as official response to a domestic violence call, only the most deeply complicit in that evil stand back and officiously pontificate for "calm" and "wait for the facts". The time for waiting is long past. It's too late for calm. It's time for the righteous anger that brings down the empowered and their civilization.

1944. On this day in our (yes, my, you weren't even born yet) history, French patriots reclaim Paris from von Choltitz. Later, in discussions with other prisoner of war comrades, the acclaimed Savior of Paris is recorded acknowledging his own massacre of Jews during his conquests.

Episcopal bishop of Milwaukee calls for "righteous anger". What might that look like? Would there be furious, dangerous mobs? Would there be fires? Would there be wanton destruction of private and public property? Would anyone realize that there is an infinite moral gap between destroying property and shooting people?
