later Thursday (well, I don't have anything else to do, do I?)
Haircut this afternoon of a summer Thursday, I'm out here on 7H porch enjoying an 81° mid-day while looking east toward downtown, the view blinded out by white driving rain that's moving toward us.
Seems like we're getting a fair amount of this gray weather this summer, more than usual. Or maybe this is the new usual, IDK. I sort of like it.
There's a picture of our new kitchen, snapped just after the cabinet installers left yesterday afternoon. They were as proud of it as we are happy with it.
The countertop people came out Tuesday to make their pattern for cutting the slab of whatever material it is that we selected, I forget the name of it. It's white with some sort of subtle streaks in it. They said it'll be seven to ten days before they're back with that. Then they'll measure for the backsplash, that's to be of the same material that's to go from the countertop all the way up to the cabinets, and I guess another week or so for that. Nu rush: we have the rest of our lives, and we're already enjoying the light that the new kitchen cabinets bring into the apartment.
While we were waiting and kitchen cabinet dishes and glassware and pots and pans and stuff was unloaded and sitting all over 7H, Linda selected dozens of items that have not been used in years, or not at all in the ten and a half years that we've lived here, and we delivered a load out to Habitat for Humanity at their facility on East 11th Street. Why they totally renovated the buildings just up Beck Street here in St Andrews and then vacated them I've no idea. Maybe business was too slow.
The rain raced by us, flooded the floor of the porch right up to eight inches from my feet, and moved on off to the west of us. I can see downtown PC wet and refreshed, the oil tanks, the old paper mill structure in the background, The Towers at Harrison & Beach Drive, the Hotel Indigo, the Cove Harbor condo tower at Tarpon Dock Bridge and Massalina Bayou, and Cove Condos at One Cherry Street, all under the gray sky with clouds all the way down to the horizon.
Linda has two nice servings of salmon thawing here on the table by me, for our lunch or supper. Maybe I'll have a glass of wine with it. Haircut first, though, and it's Time for me to quit the nonsense and get ready to go.
RSF&PTL for life and love.
