How sweet it was

Out of control

We are a strange pair, as the weather last night was to be calm and clear and the temperature not to drop below about 43F we slept with the porch door open. Christmas trees lighted inside and out, what a great season.

Walking around Lowe's listening to "sleigh bells ring, are you listening?" the Season came present for me, how odd, but I just let it be.

McElwain with offensive coaching background, including at Alabama, that Florida can use, and not new to SEC. MGoBlue? Harbaugh? We’ll see. He played for Bo, is that as important as “he played for Bear” once was? Maybe to Michigan fans from the Schembechler era. Remember the HarBowl 2013, John and Jim head coaches against each other. Every new head coach arrives with all horns tooting and great expectations, beyond sad when they go out with a pink slip as Muschamp and Hoke. With 49ers 2014 season 7-6 is Harbaugh likely to be back in SF at any event? Even if he were to come to Michigan, he's so thoroughly NFL that I think he would not stay long in college football. UM needs to look elsewhere.

My stupidest trick. Clicking “The 25 Scariest Spiders” just before bedtime, seeing a baboon spider among them, mind wandering to Shelob the giant spider that stalked Frodo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, all because as a boy living in Africa Tolkien was bitten and terrified by a baboon spider. From the nineteen-forties, a Tarzan movie with Johnny Weissmuller in which a villain was kicked into a cave and caught in a web with rope-thick sticky strands, his screams as a gargantuan spider moved slowly toward him. Not arachnophobia, it’s a horror of the creepy creatures from years working in my father’s fishhouse, no matter how hard we tried, the screens could not keep the flies out, and present to feast on them were enormous spiders. Once, ... no, forget it. Walt may remember. My father seemed annoyed by my horror of the huge spiders around the fishhouse, spiders I had to knock out of my tall rubber boots before putting them on.

Mind still wandering. Happiest time of life: teaching religion and ethics at Holy Nativity Middle School the years we read and watched modern fantasy fiction with religious undertones and learned about agape' love. Aslan.
Lucy and High King Peter. Bilbo, Frodo, Gandalf, the legendarium. Gollum. Harry Potter and he who must not be named. Hagrid sobbing over the upsidedown corpse of Aragog as a disgusted Argus Filch says "get a grip, man." Never had such fun on the job or loved other people's kids so dearly.

Going into chapel carrying stacks of boxes of warm Krispy Kreme donuts.

Taking the whole Middle School to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe movie as their final exam just before Christmas 2005.

Remembering. It must be the Season.

The second time the furosemide awoke me the porch door was still open, room chill, heating system churning faithfully. Salute father nature, close the door, back in the warmth, and so to sleep.
