No day of life is just another day
Anything can happen in college football, sometimes does, nobody should have been surprised at the conference games though Georgia Tech is entitled to be very disappointed. Too bad there were some pathetic ones, Oregon, but especially TCU and Ohio State. What next? Alabama, FSU, OSU, Oregon, TCU choose four? this new system isn’t any better or more impartial than BCS.
Second Sunday of Advent stars the Wild Man of the Desert screaming and shouting and calling people names, and everybody coming out to be baptized in repentance for the forgiveness of sins. Also, at HNEC it’s the Sunday for Saint Nicholas to be with us, a big event that mandates deferring Sunday School to him. Bishop in full regalia, he ranks to come up the aisle last in procession.
Here at 32401 it’s 57F and the breeze has an uncomfortable chill, yet beats the 23F at 48103 this morning, sorry Dianne and Nick.
With about 5,000 sf under roof counting the three porches, This Old House is looking empty, and lonely, and sentimentally back at its history near and far, but still has twice too much furniture and stuff for our condo. What will I miss most? Children running back and forth noisily, and remembering Alfred.
Always more than simply remembering, it has been being in his house where he was and invoking, especially for love of Mom and Pop. How often? Every time up and down the 18 stairsteps. Every single time without fail all these years, from the moment in December 1962 when my father and I took down the partition that had closed off the stairs and I saw his face. I would say let the reader understand, but it isn’t necessary for anyone to understand but me. Necessary or even possible.
No adult Sunday School this morning, come meet Saint Nick himself.
