Life is interesting and I never know what may cross my path. Browsing the internet for news this morning turned up an article about the TransAsia flight we watched careen in, a wing clip a bridge, and crash into the river. Reportedly, one engine cut out seconds after takeoff and in trying to restart it, the pilots may mistakenly have turned off the other engine. Next an article about Edward Snowden living in Moscow with Lindsay, longtime gf he left behind when he fled. Then Merkel and Hollande going to Moscow to discuss Ukraine without first consulting the U.S. And Ukraine passes law authorizing deserters to be shot dead.

WTH, wonders I. Only identifier is RT in a green box at the upper left corner, but no “about us” to click on. Googling RT discloses it’s a Russian state site taking Russian perspective to the rest of the world. Worthwhile to know where news originates.

Reading All the Light We Cannot See brings no surprises but ongoing reminders of Germany and Germans during the 1940s and their occupation of France. Obsession with race. Shades of blondness. Blueness of eyes. Werner's are skyblue and snowwhite, can't get any more aryan than that, yet he's uneasy. Suppression of information, collection of radio receivers, science of detecting illegal radio transmissions, triangulating to pinpoint their location for destruction. Are we really slipping into total government surveillance, and ultimately control, as both right wing and left wing insist in the wake of Snowden’s expose´? Doerr brings the 1940s present. Is this a new insidious age. Just because I’m paranoid, that doesn’t mean they’re not out to get us. They who?

Weather 32401. 37F 60% humidity wind 0 mph zero precip. Bloody sick and tired of extended winter that by now should have been spring.
