Kona!

Cuppa! Ah! Kona this morning, again finally! Trader Joe’s whole bean in my magic coffee machine.

What’s the news this morning, nevermind, I’m not looking yet. Perhaps it’s timely for that Time Machine, jump ahead a thousand years and look back to see how this turned out, the sudden rise of extremest evil back in the 21st century. Evil creeping, surfacing in different societies. Which is the greater evil, offending the religion of others in the name of freedom, or the horrendous retribution that we are seeing. Lost in the scuffle: what caused this.

Enough.

Last Sunday of the Epiphany Season. It begins and ends with a grand epiphany, theophanies, I suppose, one to open and one to close the Season. Epiphany from Mark that begins with Jesus’ baptism as he hears a voice from heaven, “Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” now climaxes on the mountain with three key disciples being told, “This is my beloved Son: listen to him.” And in the presence of Moses and Elijah, signaling many things, including that we are to see that Jesus is greater than Moses, greater than Elijah, greater than the Law and all prophets, even greater than the long awaited one who hundreds of years ago was whisked away to heaven in a chariot of fire.

It promises a fascinating discussion in adult Sunday School this morning.
