Sunday Morning

Venite    Psalm 95:1-7
Come, let us sing to the Lord; *
let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving *
and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.
For the Lord is a great God, *
and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the caverns of the earth, *
and the heights of the hills are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it, *
and his hands have molded the dry land.
Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee, *
and kneel before the Lord our Maker.
For he is our God,
and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand. *
Oh, that today you would hearken to his voice!
A Collect for Sundays
O God, you make us glad with the weekly remembrance of
the glorious resurrection of your Son our Lord: Give us this
day such blessing through our worship of you, that the week
to come may be spent in your favor; through Jesus Christ our
Lord. Amen.
The happiest part of my life is when children are around. Years as father and grandfather were brightest when they were here, and are still when they return. Years at HNES were best during the school year, though the holidays were always brief rest from the excitement. It’s 4:09 a.m. and Caroline is asleep, but Charlotte just came out of the children’s bedroom to join me, kiss Papa good morning, and climb beaming into the chair opposite. The little girls are six and eight. TJC1C2 are here for my birthday weekend and Life Is Good.
Time now, though, to review this morning’s Sunday School lesson. Beginning today, for four Sundays, our second reading is from Philippians. We’ll think about Paul for a few minutes, Paul and the Philippians, read the letter(s) just as Paul meant it/them to be read and heard, dissect a bit if time allows.
Meanwhile C2 has gone, either back to bed or to see if she can play loudly enough to rouse C1.
Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for
our learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn,
enjoy, and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and ever
hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have
given us in our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with
you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
