I AM the vine

In this morning’s gospel, John 15:1-8, Jesus says, “I AM the true vine and my Father is the vine-grower,” and he says, “I AM the vine, you are the branches.” The message is clear that we are meant to be fruitful bearers of the Truth of Christ’s resurrection and divinity. A little more subtle perhaps, but clear, is that everything Jesus is comes from the Father; and that our entire connection to the creating God is only through Jesus Christ.
