Saturday

Quite smoky out, from the fire up US231, and a stiff breeze from the east. Doesn't bode for a good Saturday for everyone in the area. Some folks already lost homes in the fire, which, IDK, was it someone's burn getting out of control that brought on last night's emergency?

Television coverage of the War includes interviews with frightened folks who are trying desperately to evacuate Ukraine. Among the most heart-rending have been interviews with Black people and other People of Color who have been kicked off trains and buses by white Ukrainians, forcibly, some at gunpoint, which very greatly tempers my feelings of sympathy for the people there. Evil white supremacy isn't confined to America, and it seems especially contemptible when it manifests in times of extreme human need.

Even so, Mike Pence is right: there's no room here for anyone who expresses favor toward Putin.

Instituting and enforcing a no fly zone would be an act of war, but how much forbearance for this creature holding the world hostage as he brandishes nuclear weapons.

I do recall a lecture at the Naval War College during Vietnam War days, a senior US officer receiving a standing ovation at his proposal to use tactical nuclear weapons in the North.

Who or What are we, in the likeness of God, in the image of God he created us.
