Kyle & Cuxhaven

Early on 7H porch with second mug of black, and First Breakfast, small slice of toasted French bread with chicken salad on top. An osprey, likely the male, winging about, eyeing the Bay for a fish to please his mate back at the nest.

Seems years since last we had such a long, mild, delightful springtime. May 12th, a day in memory. For me, it can go until Christmas. But nineteen days, less than three weeks till hurricane season claims its annual half-year. Coming up two years since the night we chased that screaming ambulance to Pensacola.

Matter of fact, there are two ospreys out there.

Among many others including BBC, my email daily brings Times of Israel which, so far, seems not as politically slanted as Haaretz, Palestine Update and Jerusalem Post, including that Haaretz floods in numerous times per day, sometimes per hour. Scrolling the Times of Israel last weekend brought up a May 9th commemoration of Cuxhaven, where was a German communications station, and its final transmission after British troops had entered the town 75 years ago, decoded by a highly secret station in England. "Goodbye forever" seeming dramatic for a military installation, but understandable coming from a junior officer under the circumstances of the total defeat of his fatherland in war.

Also arriving daily, BBC, where I enjoy a non-Fox and non-CNN look at the news. World news, news about US & Canada, and UK news including their Sport section. In the US & Canada section was a fascinating article about meat shortage in America, reporting why it will worsen because of Covid19 spreading among processing plant workers. It got personal to me when I went back to order more ham from Snake River Farms, and they are out of stock after their 20% off sale just before Easter, which evidently cleaned them out. Well, they do offer the hams of the century.

Browsing BBC Sport, quarantine violation discipline among athletes brought up Manchester City and England defender Kyle Walker, who went out to visit his sister on her birthday and then to his parents for home cooking and now says he's being harassed about it, he says excessively so considering his recent personal troubles, one of the toughest periods of his life. I browsed and found out about his troubles and thought anyone opening my blogpost this morning might want to read and sympathize with Kyle, so links below.

Unusual for us in quarantine, we do have plans for this morning, it's our day to get out of 7H, ride the elevator down to G, stroll out to St Andrews Marina, and give Linda's car a bit of exercise. It hasn't been started in a week or two.

Tuesday: health and happiness to all.
