Saturday
The moon is 99.67% waxing gibbous, and Linda is asleep to miss watching from 7H porch as it slips into the Gulf of Mexico beyond Thomas Drive off to the west of us. I've stuck my head into the bedroom four times, though, quietly asking, "Are you awake?" and no response. Full moon tonight, so should be equally spectacular.
Calvin was a philosopher this week, Hobbes always his straight tiger. There's a gray zone where theology and philosophy transition. Science too. Nothing profound, maybe three phrases in a sentence contemplating what is, in which What?, When? & How? are science; Who? is theology; and Why? is philosophy.
Or Why? may be theological: there's a scene early in "The Bible According To Mark Twain" in which God exclaims that he has created humans, and one of the attending angels, Satan, asks, "Excellency, WHY?"
Why? Good question. Followed by a long pause to which the answer is, "Oh, I hadn't thought of that," in part perhaps because theologically Time may be spread out as a panorama across eternity for the heavenly host to view all at once, and the answer would become obvious: these are the destroyers, those who know not and know not that they know not: "fall back" as in resetting the eternal clock every Fall, to Before People. Or, as Satan recommends, "I'd drown the whole lot of 'em and start over."
All of which gives Fall a new meaning, eh?
One must admit, it wasn't a good idea at all. Especially now we're looking beyond Earth at exoplanets to colonize. Start with Moon and Mars, and the sky's the limit. Or, Calvin may be right.
Checked the Boulder County Fairgrounds Osprey Cam early and watched dad arrive with a fish too small to count, but mom feeding the little ones a predawn breakfast with it anyway while dad looked on. The youngest, called #3 by fans, wasn't awake at all for this feeding, which is unsettling. Watchers reported yesterday that the other two picked on him. IDK

Saturday: leaving at two o'clock this afternoon to drive up Highway 79 to Bonifay, returning before dark. God willing.
