Besides "minor structural damage" at an IDF base, reportedly there were "only serious injuries to a seven-year old Bedouin girl" - - but in terms of humans on Earth who could have been fed and clothed and housed and cared for instead, it would be a height of naïveté to wonder aloud the cost of last evening's exchange between Iran shooting and Israel shooting down pricey missiles and, hopefully, everyone's face saved, national pride successfully defended.

Now if Israel will just let it alone, leave it be, or leave it alone, let it be.

We watched it on television until we turned the lights out at nine o'clock, fairly confident that Israel's more impressive defenses would allow none of Iran's highly impressive offensive salvo to get through to destroy Tel Aviv or Jerusalem. Jiminy Jeepers, what fireworks and popping.

We live in a fascinating age, when, from the television in our bedroom, I can watch war fought live on the other side of the world.

It's a small world after all,
