TG it's Friday
Developments here have been ongoing without pause recently. Saturday morning as the hurricane was still blowing, our HOA team showed up to look at our flood damage - - water coming down the inside of the side wall and gushing up into 7h through the vinyl tile flooring we had installed after Hurricane Michael in place of the ruined wood flooring - - and within an hour a contractor arrived to assess, then bring up dehumidifier, dryer, air blowers as a step toward less damage and preventing mold from getting started.
The noise from the drying equipment has been deafening, but tolerable thanks to our deafness and therefore ability to turn off our hearing aids. Yesterday the contractor took measurements, determined that all water was dried away, and removed the equipment. As they say, now the silence here is deafening, but we can get used to it.
Looks like the flooring is dry and we don't have to worry about mold or replacing the flooring, TGIF.
Simultaneously, the HOA has contracted to have the coaxial cable system changed over to fibre optics, and that is involving people in and out, cutting drywall to install their new control box &c.
We are having some furniture repair work done, and the contractor for that phoned and arrived a few minutes ago to take that forward.
The insurance adjuster is here now, taking pictures and measurements, doing sketches, and all his job.
A handyman is scheduled to come Tuesday afternoon to repair the slightly damaged and ripped off kick board under the kitchen sink and adjacent cabinet.
Here at the end of the world, 7H has been like Grand Central Station since about an hour before Hurricane Isaias started blowing ashore last Friday, a week ago.
For aging people, it's more activity than we enjoy, but again, all shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
With no vocational schedule any longer, and interest flagging in blogging anything intellectual, there's a lot of Time wasted these days. Now and then I seek out a free film online, last night "God" from the 19702 starring George Burns and John Denver, some decent theology including God telling Jerry that it's up to people here to manage life on Earth, that he, God, doesn't get involved in day to day stuff; also that he, God, is not religious; and that, yes, Jesus is his Son, also Mohammed and various other folks. I remember George Burns, he was a good man; also his wife Gracie Allen. Seems to me that George Burns lived past his hundredth birthday.
To eat, we stopped at Sam's for a chicken and a salmon fillet, and I bought a package, must be a pound, of that red orange Leistershire cheese, which I'd not had since about 1970 when, living in San Diego, we drove up to the Los Angeles area with Linda's mother, me, Linda, Malinda and Joe, to visit a cousin named Mary Charles Cole and she served us, with tea, that wonderfully crumbly cheese. It doesn't seem to melt all that well, but Linda crumbled it and it melted in with the scrambled eggs we had for breakfast yesterday morning.
Thee's yet one thing to go on today Friday's jammed calendar: it it's delivered, some Manuka homey from New Zealand, and I ordered along with it a jar of even more "powerful" honey from Australia, called Jarrah honey.
Treats from here and there, the Disney ride is right, it's a small, small world. We should make a point of getting along and relying on each other instead of all that's going on these days. George Burns would not like our starting a war with the Persians, for instance. Nor would he approve of our gun situation that includes making it routine ho hum so what else is new when children get murdered in their schoolrooms.
Maranatha, hurry up, come, Lord Jesus.
Had a chicken sandwich on very thin whole wheat bread with mayo today, on line for my Saturday breakfast is salmon, which I'll mash up into mayonnaise for a sandwich, maybe with cheese melted on it; so, a salmon melt, eh?
For that, TGit'sFriday, and let all the people say
Amen, hallelujah!
