Won't Wonders Never Cease

Amazon’s Kindle is better than a yard sale, better than a library table with used books for sale cheap. Hundreds or thousands of books are available for free download on Kindle. Don’t clutter up just because it’s free, but browse now and then and pick up whatever appeals.

Journaling early one morning in Cleveland I remembered an incident in Mark Twain’s Tom Sawyer and wanted to quote a bit, so checked the Kindle Store for availability. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn were there for free download. My Kindle was at home in Panama City, but purposely left plugged in and online, so ordered the free book. Moments later it opened on my free “Kindle for Mac” app in Cleveland, Ohio.
“Won’t wonders never cease!” Snuffy Smif’s wife Loweezy used to exclaim in the comic strip.
Finished Tom Sawyer now reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Slightly different style, Mark Twain mimics a lot of different dialects and claims each one is accurate. Maybe so. Makes for a bit of stumbling for the reader until you get used to it. Products of the culture of their age it's easy to see why 19th century Tom and Huckleberry are socially politically unacceptable in the 21st century, but no more so than Deuteronomy 21:18-21 or Luke 16:18, also products of the culture of their age. Right now, Huck and Jim are hiding out on Jackson’s Island downstream from St. Petersburg, Missouri, in the Mississippi River between Missouri and Illinois. Reading casually for fun I may click it open, read three minutes or half an hour, click off. “Won’t wonders never cease” includes that when I click on again whether later this morning or sometime next year it will open exactly where I left off.
Kindle is a Wonder. Whoever doesn’t have one is missing out. Constantly used, mine was a loving farewell gift from the dear folks of St. Thomas by the Sea Episcopal Church, Laguna Beach.
Life is a Wonder. Monday morning was cool brisk on St. Andrews Bay sunny clear sky still bit wintry 39 F but 60s later. By Friday it’s to be 70 something. I can love 70 degree February till the end of time. I can love every beautiful wonderful day of life. Including 1 degree F and blizzard in Cleveland, Ohio. A beautiful day.
Monday afternoon Beverly picked me up for a back seat ride and quick visit to the school about locating the portable classroom building. With Amy concurring as Head of School we have it settled now and are ready for Foundation approval.

Hey, I showed up again today. Thank you, God.
Life is a Wonder.

May God bless you and your day too.
