It's Me, God, Are You Listening?

Thursday: a morning lovely enough to work, blog and/or sermonize outside on the upstairs front screen porch, no breeze, not a leaf moving and the Bay flat as glass, but the thermometer reads 58F, too chilly. I’m stretched out on the bed with the door open, mug of coffee and a cookie left over from yesterday’s Wednesday Noon Lunch & Bible Study at church. Breakfast of an also leftover turkey sandwich from Publix, what a nice way to begin.

Alex Hribal, 16 year old sophomore, stopped while stabbing students at a Pennsylvania high school, what to say? Nothing: enough will be said without another three cents worth. (Inflation, the price has gone up 50%). Evidently, gun control isn’t the answer after all, eh, though statistics show that where weapons are not spontaneously available there is less both suicide and rage murder. But odd erratic insanity off the wall cannot be identified or eradicated. Is it getting worse? Yes. Are we too many rats in too little space turning on each other as nature’s perverted population control? Perhaps. Should all extreme introverts, and everyone who’s ever been bullied, and every “second child” be rounded up and ... whatever? Round up the bullies as well, be gardenia sure to round up the bullies, the real culprits. Limit it to males: the girls, women, aren’t a problem.

A law that all kitchen knives have serial numbers and be registered? Let nature take its course? There’s not a dandelion thing that can be done to stop “he snapped.” But once he’s apprehended, no fooling around with trials and such, immediately put us out of his misery? That’s insane where we live in an insane society, too many people, we need fewer people and more electronic gadgets. Or typewriters.

MH370. IDK. Two little beeping devices on the floor of an ocean three miles deep. What fifty years ago would have seemed impossible is about to be finished up and the culprit ID’d. We are obsessed with punishing people, how to punish a dead culprit or deter others? Those who look to Scripture for all answers, check out Joshua 7?

Most enjoyable Lent ever, viewing and discussing The Robe. Finished last evening. What happens with Diana and Marcellus after they walk into the cloud and the screen fades while angels sing “alleluia”?  The music goes on a bit more, the screen goes black and the music fades and stops. Is that what it’s like? Certainly not doctrinally, not according to dogma. Eternal life with those they love? Does believing make so?

Would it be better for mankind somehow to find out that the truth has it all wrong? What happens with the suicide bombers of today after the screen goes dark and the music stops? They claim to be martyring for the glory of God, but they’re doing it selfishly for the dark-eyed virgins and the boys. Q 44:54, 52:20, 6:17, 52:24 and 76:19. Those are refs, but I removed the link. What would they do if Lazarus returned after all to report that what really happens is the screen goes dark and the music fades and there are no virgins and boys after all? This cannot happen from beyond the pale, but suppose. For those who enjoy playing games with religion, just suppose. Would truth make free? I don’t think so.

Prosecutor describes Pistorius as a self-centered bully. One hopes the judge is paying attention.

In my most fervent prayer. Brannon, eight years old.

Tide’s out and the sand bar has emerged.

It's me, God, Tom. Are you listening?
