Moon & Cloud

Moon and Tall Cloud over StAndrewsBay last evening, to bed at eight of the clock, almost instantly asleep.

Hour till sunrise, 77F 91% a wonderful cool breeze blowing, is this the first day of fall, autumn? IDK nothing no more, when's the autumnal equinox? One could look it up, but One doesn't want to.

What comes to mind with fall, first real fall I ever knew was 1957 in Rhode Island, riding the Jamestown Ferry across Narragansett Bay from Newport, thence the drive to Kingston and all sorts of leaves changing, yellow, red, orange. Two happy Navy tours of duty in Newport and still love Rhode Island.

What fall means now is CFB https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2796010-college-football-picks-week-4-predictions-for-every-game#slide1 and even if it isn't always good news for anybody but Alabama and Ohio State, it's always CFB. C'mon, Blue, what's the hold up, while watching to see if Jimbo brings T A&M back up faster than Harbaugh is with Michigan so far. The good news: Saban will retire in due course, or maybe tire of scheduling unrated teams.

Meantime, A Word A Day continues far to outshine A Poem A Day (scroll down), which I'll give it one more week before tapping Unsubscribe. Missing Leonard Cohen.

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
There is a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in. -Leonard Cohen, musician and writer (21 Sep 1934-2016)

Another shooting, in Maryland, human beings dead, female shooter this time. We are finally settling in to the NRA ideal in which this is a common, ordinary, accepted and acceptable part of life in America. Next: firing range training in kindergarten.

SCOTUS. Sadness for both Ford and Kavanaugh. Although my high school and college career was nothing like theirs, everybody was an immature adolescent at some point, each one of us thinking, as all adolescents do, that we are grown up and know everything, when in fact, when we get into our eighties we will realize that we know nothing and never did. Getting smashed drunk brings down all sorts of risks and horrors, some of which evidently hold on in memory decades or lifelong.
