Wednesday: midweek muse

Raining over at Tyndall, which, from 7H, I can see to my southeast, and the weather ap notifies me there's lightning near Grand Lagoon, which I can see to my southwest; and sure enough, comes the rumble of thunder.

The weather ap that was so quick to pick up telling me about storms in Apalachicola last weekend is still keeping me informed, an advisory just now about "lightning near your current location in Apalachicola," which tells me more about the weather ap than it does about the weather. I'll be interested to see when it stops thinking I'm in Apalach; but not very, there are lots of other things to ponder, eh? Besides, part of my mental state is always in Apalachicola anyway.

Pouring, driving rain coming my way from the direction of The Pass right now. I love being inside here on the Bay, watching summer thunderstorms, but since 2018 I will never trust the weather again. Lightning can be experienced as what a minister friend described to me long ago as "evil in the nature of things." For example,

part of the nature of things, hurricanes have a regenerative role in nature even though they wreak havoc with human things. Lightning may also have a role. And tornadoes. We humans put ourselves in their way and can experience them as evil. IDK.

IDK nothing.

Email daily brings me something informative and often helpful from Dr Oz and Dr Roizen, both heart specialists. In fact, Dr Roizen is at Cleveland Clinic as I recall. IDK whether Dr Oz still has his television program, where he was quite the sensationalist; but my respect for him took a steep nosedive when he went political and ran for a U S Senate seat from Pennsylvania; no longer do I assume his regard for Truth. I liked trusting him without reservation, but now when he says something I wonder uneasily whether he's being influenced by a financial investment or political stance.

At any rate, I appreciate today's message simply because it's good news to Bubba who sits here reading and looking out the window across St Andrews Bay and thinking and looking out the window across St Andrews Bay and typing and looking out the window across St Andrews Bay. I appreciate the coffee message doubly, Both because of what Dr Oz and Dr Roizen say about coffee being an exercise supplement, And Also because the furosemide helps the coffee itself see that I get enough exercise.

A contract team is scheduled to come to 7H today to continue investigation of our water leak. We appreciate them; however until they knock at the door we're not moving everything in the living room away from the windows, because the disorder it creates is a horrible disruption and cause of stress.

FuroEighty day and Time to exercise.

Coffee Helps Offset Being Sedentary

By Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen, MDs

Between work, commuting, running errands (the car is running, not you), and watching screens, a quarter of Americans are sitting down eight or more hours a day, according to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention survey.

The good news is that recent research shows "activity snacks" of moderate to high-intensity activity for one to five minutes every half hour, for example, can help offset the dangers of being sedentary.

And now there's another "snack" that can help: coffee.

According to a new analysis of data from BMC Public Health, people who don't drink any coffee and who sit for six hours or more hours a day are 58% more likely to die of all causes than those who also sit for six or more hours a day but drink coffee.

(Remember to stick with filtered black coffee, or use just a tiny bit of unsweetened, plant-based milk.)

Of course, we're not saying it's ideal to sit still all day and drink coffee. But for people who have physical restrictions that make movement a challenge, this is great news.

And for the rest who are trying to get 150 to 300 minutes of physical activity a week, why not add some coffee to your routine?
