The sun can put on a marvelous show at rising and setting, is helped by clouds but does not always need clouds. Sinks into the Gulf of Mexico just off Thomas Drive to the west of 7H, and reappears the next morning just east of Callaway.

Whether your new day begins at sunset or at sunrise, or technically at midnight, depends on your point of view, religious and otherwise; and it's perspective in any event, it's not real at all, only real in the eyes of the beholder. Like all other beauty and many other events in life and Time.

Quasimodo a couple of days ago, hideously ugly in the eyes of everybody but Esmerelda.

"I don't care what he looks like, as long as he's nice."

Sun: beautiful, nice. Not too close, though, eh? Flares angrily without notice.

Christmas Day celebration today with Joe, as he's to fly out on Saturday. Kelly family coming over, prime rib beef roast, which, following an online expert's write-up, I'll remove from the fridge about noon and move forward. Involves freezing for two hours, searing every surface 2.5 minutes, baking at 225 until center reaches 115 (about two hours, but watch the meat thermometer closely), remove from oven and let sit for 30 minutes before carving and serving. Backing up from four o'clock serving Time means starting about noon or just before.

Beef: I like my roast beef rare, red rare; but I always have a hot skillet ready in case others want theirs cooked more.

Calendar for New Year has me in the pulpit Sunday, 7 Jan, then to dermatologist on Tuesday 9 Jan for facial surgery. The nurse said plan on six or seven hours. Remember, you don't care what he looks like, as long as he's nice.

For my New Year's resolution: Try not to Be such a grumbling, disgruntled old man, try to be nice, where Trying relatively assures success while Being is elusive. Illusive?

Some blogposts are more serious than my usual nonsense. Not this one.
