Friday Prayers

Travel mercies. Flights. Highway. Weather.

Prayers at 4:30 pm CST. Ashlea. Family, loved ones, friends. For the reasonable and holy hope of eternal life with those she loved and those who loved her and those she would have loved and those who would have loved her. For peace in the face of things we cannot understand, and faith anyway.

For those we Love

Almighty God, we entrust all who are dear to us to thy
never-failing care and love, for this life and the life to come,
praying that thou art doing for them better things than we
can desire or pray for; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Collect for Fridays

Almighty God, whose most dear Son went not up to joy but
first he suffered pain, and entered not into glory before he
was crucified: Mercifully grant that we, walking in the way
of the cross, may find it none other than the way of life and
peace; through the same thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Mindful that lex orandi lex credendi applies not only to the Church at large but to my personal theology, and with faith and hope and trust in much, not to mention some level of resignation to life as it is in Creation, but knowing little or nothing, the above prayer for those we love is corrected from “knowing that thou” to “praying that thou.” More, clinging to the Cross as it does, the Church’s prayer for Fridays does not much appeal to me, my spirituality is toward sunshine, joy and light even as lightning, loud claps of thunder and a driving rainstorm move through the area at this very moment.

For a beautiful day. Which is to say, another day of life.
