Goodbye Irma

65° 82% wind 7mph we slept with 7H porch door open last night, lovely. Yesterday two couple hour intervals without power. Later I’ll call Shannon at Trinity Church, and if Apalachicola has power we’ll drive back there this morning to resume Old Home Time.

Saturday to officiate the memorial service for Dr. Photis Nichols. Coming from Greece, the Nichols family were Apalachicola residents for a century and more. http://www.apalachtimes.com/news/20170822/dr-photis-nichols-apalachicolas-long-serving-physician-dies-at-94 Always faithful members of the Greek Orthodox Church, Photis and Frosso, and his two brothers Nick and Jimmie http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/tallahassee/obituary.aspx?n=jimmie-j-nichols&pid=131692853 and their wives Isabelle and Olga, were long years active in the life and worship of Trinity Episcopal Church, including during my years as priest there.

Sunday to serve again as supply priest at Trinity Episcopal Church, Apalachicola. What to preach?

On the unanimous advice of her three physicians, yesterday my sister decided to go ahead with insertion of a stent on Thursday and coronary artery bypass graft surgery on Friday at BayMed. Meantime, Gina is in room 5102 continuing to recuperate from recent heart attack while building up readiness for those procedures the end of this week. Kind prayers and good wishes of friends appreciated.

With Sunday and yesterday of steady, strong wind, cloudy skies but little rain, Hurricane Irma of late memory passed on, doing us no harm here at 7H, while bringing a few days of wonderfully cool respite from 2017’s fiercely hot summer.

Stirred by family and shaken by storm, our good intentions of nostalgic, reminiscent, feasting vacation September 7 to 18 in Apalachicola now pave our way to +Time+

May the Lord + bless thee and keep thee,
May the Lord make His face to shine upon thee and be gracious unto thee,
May the Lord lift up the light of His countenance upon thee and give thee peace.

Monday evening looking west then east from 7H as the Bay refills over Courtney Point and the last of late unlamented Irma circles past, storm cloud bands circling south, overall storm itself moving north
