Dorian Sunday
Just named a Category 5, winds 160 mph, Hurricane Dorian with its perfect eye and oval formation resembles on the television screen, a giant red and yellow fish swimming for the Bahamas and on to Vero Beach. Have seen no image of its white cloud formation from a satellite, but it's fascinating how beautiful such a deadly natural force can appear from without. Yes, now a dawn video of it with the sun just shining on the western eyewall, beautiful beyond magnificent. For good or evil, comes to mind military parades of the Third Reich, formidable and irresistible.

Finished two books this week. Churchill still stands as 20th century hero, not so much for his efforts, though successful and impressive, using the Boer War for personal ambition, as his leadership through World War 2. And his history books.
Other book, by Harry Potter's J K Rowling, "The Casual Vacancy". JKR's ability to seize, capture and hold. Of stories with characters, for those whom we met and got to know, it may be the only book I've ever read with absolutely no good guys, zero, zilch, nil. Well, when all is said and done, and sins forgiven, Sukhvinder. And maybe Andrew, Arf. Krystal? No. And surely not Fats, Stuart Wall, except possibly in his irredeemable guilt and shame, finally knowing himself for what he is, bully and coward, the lowest a human being can be. Who read the Potter books and not enough of JKR, recommended, though not for middle-schoolers, an intimate look at a small English village and what people are when layers are peeled back and we are uncovered, what we really are; not good.

After Cat 5 Dorian, we'll see if we are as anxious for the welfare of those in its path as we wanted, and still want, everyone else to be anxious for us. I'm trying to shed a victim mentality.
