Life Is Good

Oh my, the situation is numbing as it is, three linemen, people here to help us, killed in a hit and run, intensifies it infinitely, adds moral disintegration to the mix - - of what we are becoming, or perhaps truthfully always have been as Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve. It's not to shake our heads, mutter what a shame and go on, it is to stop at last and contemplate what's salvagable or even worth saving. There is smiley face optimism, and then there is Truth. This isn't at all what I'd thought to blog this morning.

Bay District Schools' line on television this morning, "Register your student at the school closest to where you now live" signifies the total changedness of our new world.

Personal update from yesterday's dash and run, speedy over and back appointment with Malinda's surgeon and nurse practitioner. Somewhat surprised but not discouraged at confusion and short term memory and times of anger and hostility, said that interference with the brain, as this is, a major shock, takes time to recover, expect the road back to be twelve to eighteen months. Cut sleep to normal seven or eight hours. Create daily challenges, tasks, games, puzzles, things to exercise the mind. They wrote a prescription for physical therapy, but that's not practical in Bay County these days, we don't see how currently to manage that, with Panama City destroyed and we move from place to place as hotel reservations run out month to month.

For myself, native Bay County, I mean to move into the "One Community, One Family, Together #PanhandleStrong" frame of mind, but it's slow coming, maybe yours is too?

This is not, nor meant to be, a pity party, it's simply an update. "First Responders" to my blog, I love you, but, I beg you, please don't post tearful sympathy faces!!! Momentarily and minorly inconvenienced, we are alive, together, sheltered, safe, full stomachs (the other day I had an enormous rare ribeye steak at Longhorn Steakhouse, Pier Park, PCB), we are happy and can smile and laugh, we are well, and far, far better off than most people and families in Bay County. My own emotional "downers" only come as I drive across the bridge and see over and again what Father Nature has done to us.

For all this, Life, Life Itself Is Good
