Monday

What's on for this Monday morning that opened with the emergency siren and recorded voice sounding startlingly about six o'clock. I might enjoy it if it came over the 1MC, "ding ding ding ding ding ding Now this is a drill, this is a drill, General Quarters, General Quarters, all hands ... ding ding ding ding". The firetruck came - - actually I only heard its siren and saw its flashing red lights, it may have been an EMS vehicle, IDK. A minor problem here is that they never announce an all clear, which is irresponsible.

It's okay, everything about living in 7H is okay and we had a nice early morning outlook from the Beck side walkway outside our front door.

A fact of life with the scaffolding in place is that the night sky view is obscured, can't see the display of stars and planets. But a shot that caught a simultaneous flash from both our red buoy and the tower beyond Courtney Point.

Rest of the day - - TBA. Take my car for an inspection, only 67K miles but year model 2006 it's fourteen years old so I have to take proper care because if I let it down it may let me down, and I'm not finished with it yet.

Asteroid whizzing by earth this evening, 120k miles out, half the distance to the moon. Size,  14 to 31 feet. Too small to be seen with eye but large enough to do damage were it to come to earth, which, we are assured, it won't.

On mind from weekend reading https://www.haaretz.com/us-news/EXT-INTERACTIVE-a-year-after-pittsburgh-shooting-do-you-feel-safe-as-a-jew-in-america-1.8031157?utm_source=Push_Notification&utm_medium=web_push&utm_campaign=General is antisemitism, the horrific sin of hating and harming Jews, that is widespread throughout Europe where shame for the Holocaust is fading, and is not uncommon among lower elements of humanity in the US. Having to hate someone, people who are truly inferior pick those who are different from them - - blacks, Jews, asians, latinos, Muslims, gays, newcomers, immigrants, Catholics, political opposites, Christians of other denominations; and it runs in the family, as the song goes, "you have to be carefully taught". https://www.npr.org/2011/03/29/134956180/criminals-see-their-victims-as-less-than-human Even I have to hate something, don't I, so it's flying a Confederate flag from a pickup or from a flagpole out front; using hateful, denigrating terms, such as "libs", for those who differ politically; white supremacy (at least in the South, a manifestation of white trash, who also, as in the article linked above, could be considered Untermenschen). What else? religious certainty, absolutism, religious certitude. And, oh, preachers who preach virulently against homosexuality, too obtuse to realize they're flying their own flag.

It's a nice day filled with places to go, things to do, and people to see.
