Thursday morning pics from 7H

Delightful out here on 7H porch as heavy rain comes steaming all ahead full across StAndrewsBay, lightning, thunder, promise of heavy weather for couple days. Speaking of promises, right now before breakfast is time for my exercise burst in the stairwell but that I have a heavy brain day ahead with other promises to keep, funeral bulletin to draft, smooth and print; homily for the service, Sunday to prepare. Exercise burst puts me basically “under” the rest of the morning, so it will have to wait.

Breakfast. Hot & black. Glass of water and handful of pills to keep me alive another day. Four seared sea scallops and seven steamed royal red shrimp from lunch yesterday at Sandbar at the Y, PCB.

Royal reds are the best shrimp ever, steamed and peel, dip in lemon-butter, taste and texture cross between shrimp & lobster. They may have “steamed” (microwaved?) my scallops, as usually succulently tender, they were tough and chewy. Sea scallops, I’ve recently developed a keen taste for, tried them several restaurants and the best two, to which others don’t remotely compare, are Papa Joe’s in Apalachicola - - in what was the A&P when we moved there in 1984 and later Lanier’s drugstore; fried, seems to me they were proper southern style dipped in cornmeal and the fry did not fall off as it invariably does other places. The other Top Best sea scallops: seared, Dusty’s Oyster Bar, Front Beach Road, PCB, where Frank and I went a few weeks ago because there’d been a kitchen fire at Stinky’s out 30A. Stinky’s still #1 for oysters.

Handful of pills included furo-sixty, so roger, wilco, over and out.
