Friday AUG 30TH

Joe arrived from Louisville KY via Apex NC on Monday afternoon, and we had a good visit. He left after noon dinner at one o'clock Thursday, yesterday, and arrived Tallahassee at three o'clock. Leaves this morning, Friday, on his way to Apex NC, Sunday to Winston-Salem and Monday back to Louisville. Fifteen years ago, April 2009, Joe's Patty died, and it's just Joe now. He's an engineer with a firm in Louisville, a city that he enjoys and appreciates.

I should have got a picture of his motorcycle, but didn't even think of it, so these are other pics I've especially enjoyed lately.

A new calf.

An earlier calf whom I found adorable in trusting, innocent, oblivious naïveté.

Remember the Chevy Citation? Its corporate siblings in the GM X-car series included the Pontiac Phoenix and a model for both Oldsmobile and Buick, but not for Cadillac. The press in those days was to come up with something gas-efficient that people would find appealing enough to drive.

What's on my mind to occupy my sanity during today's motorcycle trip?

Some maps relating to our discussion of Revelation, that starts at 9:15 this coming Sunday morning.

Did you know to spot Patmos by its seahorse shape? Off the coast of Turkey, it's part of Greece.

You already know about the seven churches of Revelation. Why seven? Today the location of Patmos is Turkey.

Couple of good thoughts picked up from Anu Garg's word for today

“Baptism by immersion, aspersion or sprinkling are all irrelevant to my faith. Looking out for the least of them and treating people with love and respect is the mission.”

David Hunter; It’s How We Treat Others That Matters; News Sentinel (Knoxville, Tennessee); Sep 30, 2014.

That's the essence of the gospel of Jesus: not religion, creeds, doctrine, dogma, worship, and ritual, but You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

And this priceless treasure:

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

An ounce of mother is worth a pound of clergy. (Spanish proverb)

"BLANK SPACE HERE" BECAUSE I TWICE POSTED A PROVERB THAT I PICKED UP FROM A JEWISH WEBSITE THAT I SUBSCRIBE TO, AND BOTH TIMES FACEBOOK IMMEDIATELY TOOK DOWN MY POST. IT SAYS "THAT WHICH IS HATEFUL TO YOU, DO NOT DO IT TO ANOTHER PERSON. THAT IS THE ENTIRE TORAH, AND THE REST IS COMMENTARY. GO STUDY. HILLEL SHABBAT 31A." A SIMPLE REPHRASING OF THE GOLDEN RULE. BUT I TOOK IT DOWN. I'LL LEAVE IT ON MY BLOGPOST ON BLOGGER, BUT I'LL GIVE FACEBOOK CREDIT FOR TRYING TO REDUCE NEGATIVE THINGS.
