Saturday POD

In the "Opinion" section of the NYT this morning, "Our joyless quest for maximum happiness," sounds most perceptive about us Americans, and I'll come back and read it later. For now, a bowl of purple muscadine grapes, about a dozen or fourteen, the seeds make their way to the front of my mouth and I take them out, but the pulp and tough skin are breakfast along with a 12 oz mug of ice water. Hot & black was a few hours ago.

Saturday, so that once a week little green Vitamin D pill along with the usual assortment of meds, and soon off to the Farmers' Market.

What will happen if I plant some of these muscadine seeds? Or are cuttings required to get started?

And what about pollination, will I need bees?

Here in the desert, my Time in the Wilderness as I sort myself out, still includes church on Sundays, that's our interpersonal part of life, and we're bouncing it around between early and late services, plus maybe now and then a venture out into the realm of "What Else Is Out There?" which we've done a bit of already, although all of it was Episcopal.

The Episcopal Church has full communion relationships with several denominations, including American Evangelical Lutheran Church and a couple others, apparently coming soon at a theater near you with the United Methodist Church. Maybe with one of the Presbyterian groups, IDK. I think we may still have a conversation (in the church it's called a dialogue) going with the Roman Catholic Church. I think the Orthodox Church may have given up on us years ago, IDK.

It's bargaining, give and take, if you're serious when you negotiate with other churches, and you have to be prepared to give up stuff. My impression these nearly eighty-nine years is that what's on the bargaining table that's at stake is of concern only to the nitpicking theologians and bishops, the rest of us would pretty much just be happy to be siblings in the Faith with everyone; most of us don't care about all the nonsense which is not part of our daily walk of Faith exercise anyway, we're not interested in rules that keep others away from our Communion Table and us from theirs.

Eight O'clock Eucharist is our plan for tomorrow, and come home to roast this leg of lamb and Kristen coming over about one o'clock for Sunday dinner.

With it rice and gravy, carrots, onions, something green. Dessert? another slice of lamb, eh?

Time to walk over to Oaks by the Bay Park and check out this week's offerings at our St Andrews Farmers' Market.
