In the Beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved over churning chaos. And God SAID "Let there be Light". And it was so. And God saw the Light, that it was Good.

And all that God SAID, it was so.

See, these are the two things that interest me. And this

I've compiled and printed my booklet for Confirmation 2020, three Sundays beginning day after tomorrow. It's about The Episcopal Church, and about Christianity, which in my mind is a Way of Life that one lives because of what people have reported and what the Church teaches about Jesus of Nazareth and his God. It's a way of human decency and ethics that our Presiding Bishop, who is the most astonishingly extraordinary man imaginable, and who has renamed The Episcopal Church as our branch of The Jesus Movement, defines as the Way of Love; and into which he invites us to come, share and participate. The Way of Love seems to leave everything else and less behind: sin, hatred, meanness, selfishness, possibly even all those arguable intricate theological niceties.

Watching him in action reminds me that when Barbara Harris was elected bishop two or three decades ago, and her election was up for ratification by the Episcopal Church at large, there were challenges because of her lack of a seminary education. And part of her response, rebuttal, retort if you will, was that she wasn't about to go to an Episcopal seminary, which would have ruined her preaching ability and style. Bishop Curry seems also to fit into that pegboard, and watching him preach, I can visualize what might have been lost to Church and world had he been conformed into our mold.

Anyway, my little booklet is done, I printed it in the parish office yesterday; and I'm not about to go back and do it over even though upon this morning's reflection after having read the three Space.com articles linked above, it does not mention my own peculiar religious stew of cosmology and theology. Which at times seems as odd as breakfast. Which brings to mind that today is Friday and it's time to walk.
